Specific Policies, Rules, and Consequences


*Zero Tolerance means the student will have to leave school at the time and may not enter any school in the state until the same
time the next year. This can ruin not just one year but two years for the student.
* Misconduct which violates club by laws/team rules may result in probation, suspension, or expulsion from the club/team .(i.e.
Beta, Student Council, cheerleading, etc.) at the discretion of the sponsors’ codes.
1. Tennessee law requires that the use or possession of weapons, battery on students or school employees, and possession of
narcotic or controlled substance be treated with Zero-Tolerance. Other Zero-Tolerance behaviors are as follows: 1)
possession of a controlled substance, 2) making a bomb threat, 3) pulling the fire alarm, and/or 4) making a hoax call to 911.
2. The Board affirms the zero tolerance weapons policy. NO student found with or having possessed a weapon replica in a
threatening manner will be allowed to attend any school, except those programs especially designed for such offenders
operated at a site separate from any regular school. This expulsion from school shall be for one calendar year. At the
conclusion of this expulsion period, a staffing shall be held to determine if the student has been rehabilitated sufficiently for
him or her to return to a normal school setting. The Chief Executive Officer has the authority to modify the punishment.

3. Students are not allowed to possess or use tobacco products while on school grounds or at any school sponsored activity.
Doing this will result in the student’s/students’ name/names being turned over to the court system.
4. Possession of cigarette lighters and matches is prohibited and will result in Suspension/Corporal Punishment/Saturday
School.
5. The defacing, damaging, or destruction of school property is not allowed. Students, parents/guardian must pay for any
property damaged. This includes textbooks or library books that have been defaced damaged or lost.
6. Students are not to buy, trade, or sell items while at school. Any items or money involved in this activity will be taken up
and kept for parents to pick up at school.
7. BULLYING is prohibited and will result in suspension/corporal punishment. (see definition in Bullying section)
8. Horseplay is prohibited and will result in ASD for grades 4-8.
9. Students are not to be on school grounds after school hours unless attending a school sponsored event or supervised buy a
responsible adult. Any student failing to comply will be assigned ASD.
10. Fighting or assault, both verbally and physically, will not be tolerated and will be dealt with according to school board
policy.
11. Handholding, kissing, or other inappropriate physical contact is prohibited and can result in suspension.

13. Sexual harassment is not permitted. See p. 6 Harassment
14. No running is allowed inside the building or on campus unless supervised by an adult as part of a physical education or
sports activity.
15. Students must report all threats of violence to a teacher or the principal.
16. Students may be ‘expelled’ (removed from the pupil’s regular school to an alternative school or removed from school
altogether for the period of one calendar year) for threatening or committing battery upon a student, teacher, principal,
administrator, or any other employee of a local education agency or possessing any narcotic or stimulant drug. Tennessee
law requires that weapons, battery on students or school employees and possession of a narcotic be treated with Zero
Tolerance.
17. Cheating will result in a zero on the assignment/test which will not be dropped. The 2nd time the student will still receive a
zero for the assignment/test (not to be dropped) and ISS assigned either for one day or three days during class time.
18. Inappropriate behaviors in the bathroom (climbing, slinging water, etc.) will result in the student being walked to the
bathroom two days by the teacher when they have time. For the second offense the teacher will walk student for a week and
the parent called.
19. CAFETERIA- Any student out of their seat, running, making a mess with food, throwing food, or yelling will be assigned to
eat alone the first time it happens and a week for the second offence, and the remainder of the year for the third offense.
20. The first offense for inappropriate behavior in the computer lab will be one to two days in ISS during the student’s
computer time. Profanity on Gaggle will result in the student being sent to ISS during computer for two weeks.
21. Theft will result in corporal punishment/suspension.
22. A student involved in LEWD BEHAVIOR will be suspended and the parent called.
23. Inappropriate touching of a sexual nature must be reported to DCS. The guilty party/parties will be suspended for three
days, and the parents contacted. Any touching is consider inappropriate and will result in discipline accordingly.
24. Any student using profanity or being vulgar will be assigned to ISS during break and related arts for three days.
25. Spitting is unacceptable. The 1st offense will result in ASD, 2nd in-school suspension, and 3rd out of school suspension.
26. Students disturbing class and/or being disrespectful will be sent to ISS for the remainder of the class.
27. Any student out of assigned area within the school without permission will be assigned ASD.
28. Students are to pay all debts owed prior to receiving their grades.
29. Leaving campus without permission is prohibited and will result in suspension/corporal punishment.
30. The third time a student in grades 4-8 is assigned ISS he/she will be assigned Saturday School. This starts over each
six weeks period.
